• The staff of the Santa Maria strives to improve its skills, better its palliative care knowledge, and teach one another for the betterment of humanity.

• User-oriented services are continuously provided.
• Services prioritizing both the physical and mental wellbeing of each client, in addition to their safety, are the paramount concern of the staff.
• The staff is motivated to improve its quality of care, and in pursuit of this, is committed to both teaching and learning from one another.

The staff of the Santa Maria observes the dignity of its residents. It assists clients in comprehensive fashion, by aiming to uphold and - whenever possible - improve their quality of life, while concomitantly assuring their safety.

In addition, it offers support to the elderly who choose to remain in a community-based setting, in cooperation with the involved families, community, and/ or organizations. In doing so, the Santa Maria seeks to provide clients with a wide range of options, for the sake of promoting their independence.

The Santa Maria provides:

Over 25 years have passed since the Santa Maria was founded in 1991. After the Japanese government implemented the long-term care insurance scheme in 2000, Japan's welfare policy concerning the elderly - in addition to the relevant social norms and environments - changed considerably, necessitating a change in the principal functions and roles of the Santa Maria that were created during the time of its establishment.

The Santa Maria's Catholic group, the Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters, established Seireibyouin ("Holy Spirit Hospital") after the Second World War for people suffering from hunger, disease, or loss of their physical/mental faculties.

Since then, the Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters have served the people for over 70 years, observing the Catholic principle of "Love and Service" in any and all of their activities, a part of which includes the founding and management of the Santa Maria.

We, the staff of the Santa Maria, honor their principles and teachings in all of our services.

The "Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters" (also known as the "Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit"－in Latin "SSpS":Servarum Spiritus Sancti) cohort was founded by Saint Arnold Janssen in December 8, 1889.

The Seirei-kai is a legal corporation recognized by the Japanese government. It can engage in business concerning the social welfare.
Types of Services Provided:

• Institutionalization for a given period
• Short-Stay Services (Respite Care Services for the caretaker)
• Daycare (Daytime In-Facility Rehabilitation and/or activities for community-based clients, including Pick-Up, Drop-Off and Bathing Services)

• The Santa Maria is the only Catholic long-term health care facility in the Tokai area; we proudly honor our motto of "Love and Service."
• The Santa Maria boasts a bright, warm, and comfortable family-like environment.
• Comprehensive nursing and care services are provided.
• Mass is performed by a Catholic priest on the first and third Wednesday of every month.
• Pastoral care is provided by the Sisters: prayers twice a day during the morning and evening; daily assembly for prayer, with the exception of holidays; Sister visits; individual counsel, etc. There are a number of seasonal activities, in addition to Catholic events such as Assumption, Easter, and Christmas evening mass.
• Two meal selections are offered for breakfast/ dinner and 8 are available for lunch.
• Numerous recreational activities such as flower arrangement, handicrafts, and singing are led by volunteer instructors.
• Other events include visits by kindergarteners, local primary school students and other groups. Additionally, a concert is held for our residents.
• The In-Facility Café, run by community volunteers, is open twice a week. Other volunteer opportunities are available.
